Here's a small sampling of the projects we've supported over the years.

2015 Tree Distribution
NEIGHBORWOODS TREE GRANT PROGRAM
Friends of Norfolk's Environment, in partnership with the Alliance for Community Trees and the City of Norfolk, initiated its first NeighborWoods project granting native trees to residents willing to plant and care for them. There is $20,000 in funding dedicated to increasing the tree canopy in Norfolk. The NeighborWoods program will continue year after year until funding is exhausted.

FONE + LWP Accept $60,000 Grant from EPA
The US Environmental Protection Agency joined the City of Norfolk, Friends of Norfolk's Environment and the Lafayette Wetlands Partnership for a public announcement awarding FONE and LWP $60,000 in grant funds to support technical assistance and green infrastructure as the next phase for Knitting Mill Creek's restoration. The EPA will be using this project as a model for other communities across the country.

Great American Clean Up Volunteer Support
For several years, FONE has stepped in to honor and support the volunteers that make the Great American Clean Up in Norfolk, VA a success. Thousands of volunteer hours pour into the community annually from March through May cleaning waterways and parks. FONE considers it an honor to support the Clean City Cookout, an awards ceremony and luncheon dedicated to the citizens who serve our community, and through donations of supplies to make clean-ups in every part of town a success.
Special event recycling containers donated by FONE and TFC Recycling
FONE Donates Recycling Containers for Town Point Park Events
Friends of Norfolk's Environment in partnership with TFC Recycling donated special event recycling containers for use by Festevents in Town Point Park, Ocean View Beach Park, and other locations across the city in an effort to divert event waste from landfill to the recycling center.

Lafayette Wetlands Partnership
FONE has acted as a support partner for Lafayette Wetlands Partnership for the past 6 years. Through this valued synergy, FONE is able to extend its reach to citizens actively promoting sustainable wetlands practices in Norfolk's watershed. Follow LWP's projects here...

Ernie Morgan Center Liberty Garden
In honor of September 11, all those who served, all those who lost their lives, FONE has dedicated a garden adjacent to the Ernie Morgan Environmental Action Center as a constant reminder of the strength and unity that rose from tragedy. Our FONE members are able to show their support by donating bricks along the liberty garden pathway.
